Founded in 1977, Frameline’s mission is to change the world through the power of queer cinema. As a film and media-arts non-profit, Frameline’s integrated programs reach hundreds of thousands with a collection of more than 250 films distributed nationally, provide critical funding for emerging LGBTQ filmmakers, and create an international stage for the world’s best queer film through the San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival, and additional year-round screenings and cinematic events.

THE POSITION

Frameline seeks a dynamic, driven, independent, and highly organized Strategic Partnerships & Development Manager. The Strategic Partnerships & Development Manager is primarily responsible for building sponsorship revenue and managing the organization’s robust corporate and non-profit partnership program. Secondarily, this position will provide support in the areas of foundation funding, donor cultivation, and event management. The position reports to the Development Director, and, on occasion, the Executive Director. Professional, proven experience and a strong understanding of the LGBTQ marketplace will be enhanced by initiative, creativity, enthusiasm, flexibility, discretion, strong interpersonal skills, and a sense of humor. Work schedules require expanded hours and flexibility during peak periods, especially in the months prior to and during the San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival, held each June. This is a full-time, exempt position. The salary will be commensurate with the candidate’s abilities and experience. Frameline offers medical and dental health insurance, 403(b) retirement plan, paid vacation and sick time.

QUALIFICATIONS AND QUALITIES

  • Minimum of two to three years proven non-profit experience in sponsorship procurement and fulfillment
  • Minimum of one to two years experience in grant writing, donor cultivation, and event management
  • Experience as a proactive networker with highly effective presentation, pitch and sales skills
  • Exceptional follow-through on new sponsor leads and converting a lead into a new partner
  • Experience in high-end sponsorship service with demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with both corporate and non-profit entities
  • Experience with integrated cross promotion across all marketing platforms (online, print media, street promotion, onsite, event etc.)
  • Knowledge of current brand and marketing industry standards, especially within the LGBT marketplace
  • Ability to manage events and tie sponsorships to organizational programs and events
  • Adept at researching foundation funding opportunities and writing grant applications
  • Experience with individual donor base and non-profit membership
  • Familiarity with film and film festival environment and LGBT culture
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize and balance multiple tasks
  • Flexible, creative, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Responsive to unpredictable workflow and hours
  • Fluency in MS Office, Filemaker Pro. Experience with Adobe CS and Raiser’s Edge desirable
  • Sense of humor

RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Partnerships/Sponsorship (70%)

  • Procure and service Festival and year-round cash and in-kind sponsorships
  • Meet annual sponsorship budgetary goals
  • Ensure successful delivery and activation of all components of sponsor-related integrated marketing and hospitality
  • Supervise Festival Sponsorship Associate (seasonal position), who handles most in-kind sponsorships
  • Work with Development Director, Executive Director, and Board to identify and solicit new cash and in-kind sponsors for Festival and year-round support
  • Monitor and report regularly on the progress of budgetary goals and in-kind support
  • Draft sponsorship presentations, proposals, and agreements
  • Track sponsorship agreements, invoices, and payments
  • Provide summary reports to select sponsors
  • Develop and maintain sponsorship database and files
  • Manage all aspects of sponsor-related integrated marketing

Development (20%)

  • In collaboration with Development Director, research new foundation funding opportunities and provide grant writing support
  • Manage and update donor database and explore extended donor cultivation opportunities

Event Management (10%)

  • In collaboration with Development Director, act as liaison to Festival Events Producer
  • Ensure all elements of Festival and year round sponsorships are integrated into events
  • Manage select Festival and year round events, including donor cultivation events and member screenings
